New spy photos of the 2012 Porsche Boxster were captured in snowy northern Europe. The pictures show a new body for the Porsche model, with just a hint of the car’s LED daytime lights.
The photographer on the scene says the Boxster prototype is definitely “lower and wider than the current generation.” The front bumper appears to extend closer to the ground, and tape could be covering up changes in the side panels and sills. Thus far, the car has mainly been spied with a cloth roof. Perforated brake disks, already available on the current model, can be seen in these photos.
Previous reports mention Porsches need to reduce CO2 emissions down to about 180 g/km. As a result, Porsche is considering a turbocharged three-cylinder engine for the third generation Boxster model.
Nonetheless, the real changes could be coming to the car’s performance figures. Look for more efficient numbers to come from the next-gen Boxster, which will likely weigh less than the current model, as well as a 2011 launch.

TechArt Lightly Updates Aero I - II Kits for 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S Facelifts

TechArt Lightly Updates Aero I - II Kits for 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S Facelifts
TECHART Individualization for 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S – 16.02.2010
The new TECHART aerodynamic and personalisation kits for the new 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S facelifts are to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Although very nice, don’t get too excited because it’s basically the same styling kit as the pre-facelifted 997. The only differences we can spot are the restyled wing mouldings in the air intake pockets of the front bumper and the new trapezoidal exhaust tips out back. Aerokit 2 has the LED daytime running lights while the Aerokit 1 does not. TechArt didn’t mention any performance upgrades, as it may be too soon for any meaningful development to be completed.
However, for the sake of being thorough, Kit I includes a front spoiler with dynamically-accented air intake valves, airflow-optimising side sills, a small roof spoiler for the coupe to generate additional downforce and a rear diffuser.
Aerodynamic Kit II consists of independent front and rear spoilers and multifunctional daytime running lights that automatically dim when the turning lights are active among others.
The wheels are designed to handle the 700Nm-plus of torque generated. They go up to 20-inch in diameter while TECHART recommends buyers choose either Conti Sport Contact 3 or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tyres for them.
The interior can also be individualised with things like TECHART stainless steel entry strips, a three-spoke steering wheel and aluminium pedals.

Technology and Art – TECHART World Premiere at the Geneva Motor-Show
Since 1974, this vehicle has been making the hearts of true sports car fans beat faster: the Porsche 911 Turbo – a masterpiece made of the finest materials and a symbol of top engineering and design. An almost-perfect sports car. Almost, because individuality and personality are essential elements in achieving perfection. TECHART automobile design stands for the creation of individual masterpieces for sports car enthusiasts looking to give their vehicle a touch of individual flair. The result is the TECHART personalization program for the new 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S models consisting of a new aerodynamic package, light metal wheels, and exquisite interiors will be presented in early March at the 80th international Motor-Show in Geneva, Switzerland.
Absolute performance – no compromises
The new Aerodynamic Kit I emphasizes the Turbo’s inner strengths without being excessive or overloaded. The sturdy RIM polyurethane exterior reduces aerodynamic lift on both axles, allowing smoother handling capability at extreme speeds. One striking feature is the front spoiler, with its dynamically-accented air intake valves and seamless integration. As your eyes pass to the side of the vehicle, you notice the airflow-optimizing side sills, which are stretched to make the vehicle seem to sit lower. A small roof spoiler on the Coupe elongates the visual appearance of the roof line. The spoiler profile can generate additional downforce with the extensible rear spoiler. Rounding off the modified back end is the diffuser, which extends the standard skirt downwards. Personalized mirror moldings add yet another sporty accent and enhance the unique TECHART appearance.
The same applies to the TECHART Aerodynamic Kit II. Independent front and rear spoilers optimize mass air flow for improved ventilation of the braking and intercooler systems. TECHART’s multifunctional daytime running lights are available for the front spoiler II. It combines daytime running lights, position illumination, sidelights, parking lights, and turn signals in a combined housing that fits seamlessly into the design of the vehicle front. The display brightness of the daytime running lights automatically adjusts to the selected daytime lighting setting. Furthermore, the daytime running lights dim automatically when either of the turning signals is active, in order to improve their visibility.
The high performance look and unmistakable TECHART design are also reflected in the wheel enhancements. Connecting the powerful torque of up to 700 Nm securely to the asphalt are the TECHART Formula light metal wheels, with their modern 5-spoke design. The product range includes TECHART Formula, Formula II, or filigree Formula III alloy-forged wheels in up to 20-inch formats. This classic form guarantees efficient heat diffusion and displays the braking system. For optimum road grip, TECHART recommends Conti Sport Contact 3 or tires of the brand Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.
In addition, TECHART’s Noselift System is also available for the new 911 Turbo. This makes problems with everyday obstacles a thing of the past for this vehicle. At the push of a button, ca. 60 mm of additional space can be created between the road and the front spoiler by lifting the vehicle height on the front axle. The hydraulic TECHART Noselift System is very reliable, easy to retrofit, and exhibits the everyday applicability you expect from TECHART.
Elegant TECHART interior designs
TECHART’s interiors for the new models are unmistakable: clear yet elegant, sporty yet comfortable, the cockpit, seats, doors, and roof make for a luxurious experience. These sporty enhancements please all the senses – smell and touch included. For instance, the interior could be completely outfitted with the finest leather. The TECHART 3-spoke sporty steering wheel, aluminum pedals, dials in individual colors, or stainless steel entry strips embossed with the TECHART logo are all installable options. For exteriors and interiors, TECHART knows how to engage the emotions – and please the senses.
Experience the TECHART personalization program yourself for the Porsche 911 Turbo and the 911 Turbo S at the Geneva Motor-Show from March 4-14, 2010 at the TECHART Stand in Hall 2.

Porsche Panamera V6 Announced for Debut in Beijing

Porsche Panamera V6 Announced for Debut in Beijing.jpg
Porsche Panamera V6 first photos – 16.02.2010
Features a 3.6-liter V6 with 300 bhp and 400 Nm of torque
Porsche has announced plans to introduce the entry-level Panamera and Panamera 4 at the Beijing Motor Show on April 23rd.
Virtually identical to the Panamera S, the Panamera is differentiated by a dual exhaust system (instead of a four-tailpipe unit), black window trim, and other minor exterior details.
Under the hood, power comes from a 3.6-liter V6 with 300 PS (220 kW / 296 bhp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. As you can imagine, the performance is decent but nothing stellar. The dash from 0-60 mph takes 6.0 seconds in the Panamera and 5.8 seconds in the Panamera 4. On the upside, the Panamera consumes just 9.3 liters/100 kilometers (30.4 mpg UK) while the Panamera 4 chugs 9.6 liters/100 kilometers (29.4 mpg UK). To maximize efficiency, Porsche will offer low rolling resistance tires (complete with nineteen-inch wheels) that reduce fuel consumption by 0.2 liters/100 kilometers.
Set to go on sale in May, German pricing starts at €75,899 for the Panamera and €84,110 for the Panamera 4 (including VAT). Arriving in the U.S. in June, the Panamera and Panamera 4 will retail for $74,400 and $78,900, respectively.

World Debut in Beijing: Panamera and Panamera 4
Efficient, Light and Fast with Six-Cylinder Power Units
Stuttgart. Following the successful start of the Panamera into the market, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is rapidly expanding the range of models available: Starting in May 2010, both the Panamera and the Panamera 4 will be at the dealership as the new entry-level versions leading into Porsche’s Gran Turismo model series.
Both models are powered by a brand-new 3.6-litre V6 featuring Direct Fuel Injection and developing maximum output of 300 bhp (220 kW) plus peak torque of 400 Nm/295 lb-ft. Following Porsche’s nomenclature, the Panamera transmits its power to the road via the rear wheels, while the Panamera 4 comes as standard with active all-wheel drive.
The two new versions of Porsche’s Gran Turismo are convincing examples of the Porsche Intelligent Performance consistent development strategy. Equipped with PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (Porsche Double-Clutch Gearbox) and Auto Start Stop, both models consume far less than 10 litres of fuel on 100 kilometres in the New European Driving Cycle: The Panamera makes do with a mere 9.3 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 30.4 mpg imp), the Panamera 4 averages 9.6 litres/100 kilometres, equal to 29.4 mpg imp. Nineteen-inch all-year tyres with optimised roll resistance available as an option reduce these consumption figures by another 0.2 litres/100 kilometres, giving the Panamera a CO2 rating of just 213 g/km, the Panamera 4 an equally impressive 220 g/km. Both V6 versions of the Panamera fulfil the strict EU5 emission standard in Europe and the LEV standard in the United States.
Superior economy and performance typical of the brand do not rule out each other on these new V6 Gran Turismos. On the contrary – the ideal combination of these qualities is attributable to consistent lightweight construction as one particular highlight, with the axles, doors, engine compartment lid, wings and the rear lid all made either of aluminium or a combination of aluminium and magnesium. At the same time the brand-new V6 power unit built at Porsche’s engine plant in Zuffenhausen and boasting a 90o cylinder angle is approximately 30 kg or 66 lb lighter than the eight-cylinder featured in the Panamera S and 4S, thus contributing to the low overall weight of the Panamera of just 1,730 kg or 3,815 lb.
Like the proven V8 models, both the Panamera and the Panamera 4, as genuine Gran Turismos, combine sporting character with a high standard of comfort and everyday driving qualities. Apart from the regular steel suspension available as an option with variable dampers, adaptive air suspension with additional air volume is also available on request. This provides a very wide range of suspension qualities and features extending from an even higher level of motoring comfort at one end all the way to extremely sporting driving dynamics at the other.
The Panamera and Panamera 4 will be making their world debut at the Beijing Motor Show as of 23 April 2010. Both models will be entering the German market in May 2010 and are scheduled to enter the US market in June.
Prices start at Euro 75,899.- including value-added tax and national specifications for the Panamera (base price in the Euro countries Euro 63,600.-), while the Panamera 4 fitted as standard with PDK Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe retails at Euro 84,110.- including VAT and national specifications (base price Euro 70,500.-).
In the US the Panamera and Panamera 4 MSRPs are $74,400 and $78,900, respectively.
